Energy Storage in India
Conducting project studies and strengthening research and development networks to enhance the understanding of viable decentralised energy storage system applications in the Indian research community

1: Technical analysis

The analyses will be technology-open, looking at non-battery and battery-based solutions, as well as different battery chemistry options, and it will assess the suitability for the Indian context and the viability of business cases for different systems. The analyses will cover, inter alia:

â–  Technologies, system efficiency & design in terms of applicability for power system use cases

â–  Overall electricity system application, integration & impact aspects

â–  Applicability of multi-use scenarios for storage systems (e.g. for ancillary services)

â–  Energy economics (techno-economic aspects, national manufacturing opportunities and limitations, system cost)

â–  Financial analysis: business models

â–  Social and environmental implications, such as lifecycle assessments, gender, etc.

2: Research and development networks

Ensuring exchange of ideas and findings of researchers within India and between Indian and Germany can speed up the overall generation of knowledge and its applicability in the specific Indian context. The R&D Forum brings together leading research institutions, industry research units and individuals to share and discuss information.
