Energy Storage in India
Raising awareness of key stakeholders on decentralised energy storage systems through the dissemination of project findings

1: Awareness raising for policymakers & regulators

The project activities will raise awareness and disseminate findings from the project to policymakers and regulators, in particular the policy and regulatory inputs developed in Output I, but also from the other outputs. The consortium will utilize existing and upcoming opportunities for engagement, such as official public stakeholder engagement processes, official working groups and other for a where relevant stakeholders meet, especially those coordinating activities between MNRE and MoP. Additionally, the consortium will organize own events and meetings as required. To further support awareness in the field, the project will initiate a dialogue between Indian and German policymakers, to exchange on lessons and challenges.

2: Awareness raising for DISCOMs & industry

The demonstration projects will support awareness of potential energy storage solutions not only through the data and information utilised in the other outputs, but project staff and partners will also directly engage with stakeholders. Being able to see physical evidence of the viability of solutions will mostly benefit DISCOMs and industry partners and generate interest in replication. Stakeholders from industry will themselves promote storage solutions by using information and findings generated through the project. Study tours and site visits will also be relevant for policymakers, regulators, the research community and for teaching purposes.

3: Awareness raising for the research community

Translating technical findings and experiences on the ground in a way that stakeholders can easily access information relevant to their interests and needs is critical to fostering enhanced understanding and uptake of decentralised storage systems. While technical reports are often long and difficult to read for non-specialists, knowledge products, such as policy-briefs, infographics or blogs present the findings in a more accessible way and tailored to the reader. This is the foundation for enhanced dialogue which aims to bring together high-level representatives of policymakers, regulators, industry and researchers from India to develop a joint understanding of the need for and way forward for decentralized energy storage systems.

4: Awareness raising for the training community

Institutions conducting relevant trainings and potential candidates for trainings need to be aware of the availability of training materials and courses developed under the project and materials and tools need to be easily accessible. Some of this marketing may happen through cooperation partners, but especially for trainings directly conducted by consortium partners, it is essential to raise the awareness of the opportunities to a broad audience

5: Communication & media

The activities will support the broad dissemination of findings from project activities and training opportunities to the public. The communication strategy will consider the specific context and appropriate communication channels in India and provide guidance for other activities related to adequate communication products.
