Abstract:

The “National Programme on Advanced Chemistry Cell (ACC) Battery Storage” is a Government of India initiative launched under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to promote domestic manufacturing of advanced battery technologies. The programme aims to establish large-scale ACC battery manufacturing capacity in India to support electric mobility, renewable energy integration, and energy storage applications. By encouraging investments, technological advancement, and local value addition, the scheme seeks to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen India’s clean energy ecosystem. The programme provides financial incentives to manufacturers based on production output, performance standards, and domestic value addition. It targets the creation of 50 GWh of ACC manufacturing capacity along with 5 GWh for niche technologies. Manufacturers are required to meet minimum investment and localization criteria while adhering to specified technical performance benchmarks.
