Abstract:
The report presents a detailed technical review of energy storage with emphasis on how energy storage is evolving into a multi-service, digitally managed resource helping the power system manage higher share of RE resources. This report analyses energy storage technology and system perspectives with real-world deployment learnings and case study insights. The report covers storage technology landscapes, grid applications, power electronic interface and control strategies, modelling and interoperability requirements, digitalisation and cybersecurity considerations, and evidence from operating projects and programs. The analysis shows that storage value is increasingly determined not only by the storage medium, but by system integration, including control design, verified dynamic performance, digital monitoring and automation, and regulatory alignment.
