The stakeholder consultation on BESS Capacity Development, held on 29th August 2025 at Integral University, Lucknow, focused on addressing critical challenges in building a skilled workforce for India's energy storage sector, essential for achieving the country's net-zero goals. Organized under the StoREin initiative by TERI and partners, the event brought together academia, industry, and vocational institutions to assess curriculum gaps, infrastructure limitations, and faculty expertise in battery energy storage systems (BESS). Discussions highlighted the lack of dedicated BESS content in technical education, outdated lab facilities, and the need for continuous faculty upskilling. Participants emphasized the importance of specialized courses, certification programs, and modular training to meet the growing demand for technicians, engineers, and researchers in the sector. The consultation also underscored the need for greater student awareness and career guidance in BESS and renewable energy domains. Key outcomes included commitments to integrate BESS modules into curricula, strengthen industry-academia collaboration, and upgrade infrastructure to support hands-on learning and innovation. The event concluded with a shared enthusiasm for sustained engagement to support Indiaโ€™s clean energy transition.
